The Government of India has launched a scheme named 'Prime Minister's Development Initiative for the North-East Region' for the development of the North-Eastern region. This scheme is abbreviated as PM-DevINE (PM development initiative for North East). Under this scheme, new means of livelihood will be available for the youth and women of the North Eastern region. The total expenditure in this scheme will be Rs 6,600 crore and in its initial phase funds of Rs 1500 crore will be allocated.

Under the PM Divine scheme, the objectives of the PM Dynamic scheme will be included and finance will also be made available for social development projects according to the need of the North Eastern region. PM-DEVINE Yojana is not included in the schemes already run by the Center and the State. New projects will be financed through this scheme. Under the PM-DEVINE scheme, importance will be given to the projects run or proposed by the states.The Pradhan Mantri Vikas Pahal (PM Divine) scheme for the North East region will operate from the financial year 2022-23 to 2025-26.

Objective of PM-DevINE Yojana 2022 :

Backwardness is found in the basic, social, economic development in the North East region, so the main objective of starting the PM Divine scheme is to develop infrastructure, social development and provide employment to women in the North East region. The objectives of PM-DevINE also include supporting social development projects based on the needs of the NER (North East region). 

Features of PM-DevINE Yojana 2022 :

1.️ Under the PM Divine scheme, a provision has been made to spend Rs 6600 crores in a total of 4 years. Rs 1500 crore will be spent in its first phase. 

2.️The duration of PM-DEVINE scheme will be from 2022-23 to 2025-26. 

3.️ The entire funding of the PM Divine Scheme will be done by the Central Government. The scheme will be operated by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER).

4.️ PM Divine scheme will also work like PM Dynamic scheme. According to the need of the North East, there will be basic development and all the schemes related to social development there will also be funded under PM-DEVINE YOJANA

5.️ Due to the implementation of PM Divine scheme in the former area, there will be no impact on the scheme already operating in the area. It will run smoothly.

6.     Under this scheme, organic farming and health services will be promoted in the Northeast region. Under this, ropeway system will also be developed.

Benefits of PM-DEVINE Yojana 2022 :

1. If the PM Divine Scheme 2022 is successful, the North Eastern region will be rejuvenated. The same infrastructure will be built on a large scale and social development will be promoted.

Implementation of PM-DevINE Yojana 2022 :

PM-DEVINE Yojana has been launched by the Union Cabinet. This scheme will be operated on the guidelines of the Government of India. The duration of this scheme will be from 2022-23 to 2025-26. Various development works will be done during this time period. Under this, basic development, social development and other employment oriented works will be done. This scheme will be fully funded by the Central Government. It will be implemented by the Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
